Long live the queen –

I think almost every little girl enjoys fairy tales, and perhaps wishes to be the heroine in her very own story.  Well, I always wanted to be the evil queen in certain stories, and the dreamy-eyed brave princess in others, though the ogre could have its own appeal.  Taking the bit of whimsy to heart, there is an event called “Enchantment” now being run very three months and put together by Voshe Paine.  The first round is inspired by the Grimm’s fairy tale of Snow White.

There is something about apples from the way Eve offered one to Adam to the use of it to poison Snow White in this classic tale of jealousy, coming of age, and woe.  Who truly was the fairest of them all?  I always found the story to be a tale involving the coming of age when the mother becomes the crone, and the maiden moves into her place.  The ravens in this outfit seem rather apt to me when I consider the imagery that comes to my mind.

This event will open to the public on November 1st, 2013 at 12 p.m. (noon), though there will be an earlier opening for those in the “Enchantment Update Group” at Amidnight on November 1st.   The scenery in the sim was enjoyable and suited the setting as well as the items were of a nice variety from various designers.   Not everything was to my taste or practical use, but I think most people will find something to enjoy.

What did I find there?

There was a lot of items ranging from a nice doll avatar by Coco based on Snow White to a variety of dresses by designers like Junbug, the Library, the Muses, and more.  I ended up getting a skin by Birdy, whose skins I really enjoy lately, inspired by the Snow White motif of the event.  I thought that it worked it rather well even with my ‘queen’ angle in the pictures.  The mesh outfit is a dress called “Raven Queen” by :{MV}:, which did require a little bit of adjustment on my part with the breasts, but after a little fine tuning, I got it to looking right.  “Raven Queen” came with a crown and a feather collar as well as the dress.   I did get a couple of other items, and I saw some more that may draw me back.

I will be sure to watch out for the apples on the journey back.

Late, so late for those very important dates.. that has been sort of my unwilling mantra lately as I catch up to all the events and things going on in SL, when real life affords me the opportunity.

I enjoyed this round of Genre, which had a nice “Steampunk” theme going for all its products.  It included some really lovely things by merchants like Contraption, Paper Moon, Aisling, and more for the current round, which runs through November 12, 2013.    Genre starts on the fifteenth of every month and lasts to the twelfth with a different theme each time.

On the way from the Genre event, I also stumbled across some great outfits from Boudoir, designed by Precious Restless.  I really dig some of the macabre looks that she puts together.  The “White Wonderland Bunny” is from Boudoir and worked out well for one of the role play events that I was involved in.

Something wicked this way comes, and that is why I love this time of year in real life as well as Second Life.  Perfect Wardrobe, which was an event that I recall in the past, just returned, and this round fit the Halloween spirit.   All of the items at this event are 90 lindens, and no more than that.

I have always loved the movie, Edward Scisssorhands, by Tim Burton, and a recent stop by Remarkable Oblivion, fulfilled my goal of having hands just like Edward’s.  I went home to trim up some trees around my home, and well, I think the zombies followed me from the other night.  A stab in the heart later, and after a brief scuffle over my brains, I was staggering to my next destination, which was the haunted Cherry Hill Mines, the location of the market and haunted mines sponsored by Oceania Breedables. This event runs to November 1st.

I found the location rather soothing in its darkness and the smell of burnt cow flesh was ..

From what I gather, you can even get a tour of the mines here, and the schedule can be found on a sign near the entrance.  Well, being dead on arrival certainly has had its fun.  I better return to the search for livers for now!

The Great Pumpkin! –

The Great Pumpkin! Is this is just some mythical being that Linus waited for in the “Charlie Brown” comic strip, or does it really exist?

While I’m not one for really waiting around like Linus did, I did find my great pumpkin at the pumpkin patch sponsored by Chimeric Arts. This little farm is located right next to their mask store in Port Caledon. I donned my costume and headed right over to the patch while managing to avoid a zombie or two that seem to want my brains.

Once I arrived, I strolled in and found my perfect pumpkin. You just click on a pumpkin, which goes right into your inventory. Once this is done, you then rez the pumpkin, which then shows the option to focus on the little white ‘screen’ that pops up above it. From there, you get a pretty fun little set of options for carving your jack-‘o’-lantern design. Once complete, you hit carve, and voila, you get your very own ‘personalized’ carved pumpkin.

I found this to be a pretty cool activity, and the great thing about it, besides the fun time of carving your own jack-‘o’- lantern?

It’s absolutely free! While there, you can also check out the store’s masks, which come in a great assortment of looks great for Halloween and any time that you need a mask. There are even some gifts available for free inside the shop.

The way of the Cog –

The cogs, the steam, and I love steampunk!  Finally, some pictures of what I found at this event, rather than just landscape shots.

I hit the Midville Midway Gacha Expo Event (Can you say that mouthful twice as fast?) in the sim of Mieville Shelley.  My last entries provided the tease to titillation of the event’s start on October 15 with a variety of merchants filling the booths.  The first thing that you may notice on starting your journey into this land inspired by Halloween and cogs is surrealistic landscape decorated by designer, Jalynne Ohmai, the mind and muscle behind Unrepentant.  Jalynne is known on the grid for her original and full perm mesh packs, which include everything from wings to hats.   There is also a wonderful carousel designed by A Beautiful Disaster (beautifuldisaster104)  of Disastrous Beauty.  My other entry has pictures of me holding on for dear life to the back of a clown car as I go around and around ..

 

 

After getting myself dizzy on the back of that carousel and first walking around the sim to enjoy the atmosphere, I then hit the various booths.  You can find clothing, jewelry, textures, buildings, and more at the event, which runs until October 31.  There are a lot of great designers here, including hair by one of my favorite hair designers, Calico Ingmann, Play Dead, run by JoseDiego Siverspar, who does some nice punk accessories, and some great masks by Chimeric Fashions, run by Punkerella Summers.

I’ve included some pictures  of some of the items that can be found at the event, and that caught my eye.  There was even more that I could have put in here, but I could take those pictures all day long.  The best way to find out for yourself is head to the Mieville Midway Gacha Event.  You will find a lot of booths, and then the gachas are in the center, which is pretty easy to find in one big booth.

 

Having tea in between shopping, never a bad thing!

While shopping, I also found a great DJ booth that could come in handy at some of the gigs I do.  This booth is Julia’s Steampunk DJ Booth by Julia Collection, which is designed by Julez Odigaunt.

This month of October holds a lot of goodies out there with events, treats n’ tricks from designers, and a whole lot more.  I took a break between arranging my candy, getting my blog together, and taking photos to make my way over to the Oh My Gacha event.  I was lured there by the promise of some great items, including the Junkyard wings from Contraption, run by William F. Wainwright (Faust Steamer).  I sauntered to the gacha machine with the glee of a kind in a candy store.  On my second try, after I got really nifty purple wings, I got the Junkyard Devil Wings in Gunmetal.

It was glee for me, and I did also check out some of the other items while there.  I do plan to stop in again, but the that floating on glee cloud took me to TDR (The Dressing Room Fusion) next where I got a lovely necklace, called Tri Bands in black by Just Designs, and a new skin by Essences called Qopi.   After adding a Halloween gift from Curious Kitties, I Was ready to whip out a cauldron, and look like the proper witch.

Yes, everyone and their broom wielding sister is showing the witch look, but while I’m brewing mischief in my broth, I opted to take some shots.  It’s back to toil and trouble for me!

I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up! –

Today, I was falling over myself into the pumpkins as the bloggers got a preview for the upcoming Mieville Midway, an upcoming Gacha Event, starting on October 15 and lasting through October 31, 2013.   The build is just that right amount of darkness to dreams sprinkled with a bit of the beautifully grotesque.  More pictures and details will come once the event opens, and I do my ‘official’ entry here.

Fantasy Gacha Fair for October! –

The start of October brings on Halloween, the feeling of Autumn, and the return of the Fantasy Gacha Carnival  Event in SL, which can be found here.

This event was pretty fabulous the last time around, and I was not disappointed this time either.  A great variety of designers have put together goods to offer in a setting that is decorated for Halloween, which, of course, suits the month that we find ourselves in.

I managed to put together a Naga look using the great new mesh naga tails from !DM Deviousmind.  The Lamia series with its naga accessories is pretty sweet looking.   I also picked up from bracers from “The Forge” as well as other stuff, which I put pictures up here a bit later today as well as mention some of the other things that I found that lend toward great looks for role play or just hanging around in Second Life.

One tip for people going to these things – please leave your particles at home.  I arrived to a huge cloud of particles from one or two people, and these events already lag as it is with all the people there.
